FastVPN Privacy Policy

最後更新: 2025年8月19日

FastVPN protects and respects our customers' privacy. We aim to ensure our customers remain anonymous when using our service and collect as little information as possible.

We DO NOT TRACK USER BROWSER ACTIVITY (i.e., sites visited, DNS lookups, emails, etc.)

Here is the information we collect, and why we collect it:

General use of FastVPN

Personal information:

User-specific ID

We create a VPN specific user ID that is shared with the upstream provider for the following purposes:

1) Provisioning FastVPN: We share the User ID with the upstream provider of network services to authenticate you as an authorized user.

2) Sales/Usage Analysis: We gather information about FastVPN usage, such as which features are being adopted by users. While this data is initially associated with a User ID, it’s quickly anonymized and analyzed on a mass aggregate basis.

3) Troubleshooting: We gather information about service issues that a customer might be experiencing, ie. bugs and/or crashes. The service issue data will be associated with a specific User ID, so we can locate the issue and resolve it quickly. When resolving a service issue, we may share the User ID with our upstream (a third-party provider) if necessary.

Optional Feature:  AUTO-PROTECT.

Auto-protect is a feature that reviews available Wi-Fi networks compares them to your trusted list of networks and automatically uses VPN when a user logs into an untrusted network.

Wi-Fi network names form part of the user’s location data, which is dependent on the network name and/or as defined by applicable privacy laws.

The app will collect and retain Wi-Fi network information for each network you designate as trusted (“Trusted Network”). Trusted Networks reside only within your app and device. It's not shared with us or any other third party.

Auto-Protect is an optional feature that you can activate by [instructions]

ANDROID and MacOS USERS: Location Permission Required

Android and macOS users must grant the app permission to use Auto-Protec as your Wi-Fi network information is considered your location data.

The app will only retrieve Wi-Fi network information and compare it against your trusted list. No data will be retrieved after this, nor will it be retained.

FastVPN for Android and Mac

What permissions are required and why?

Our FastVPN app can ask for Location and Notifications permissions.

Location permission is now required in Android OS 10+ and macOS 14+ due to a new operating system limitation that does not allow the app to view available SSID's.

FastVPN does not collect users' GPS location data in any way. It needs to have the list of your device’s known Wi-Fi SSID names, plus the type and the name of the network you are currently connected to.

This allows you to use the Untrusted Network notifications to set and manage the "Trust" status for these networks, allowing the app to trigger the actions based on the rules you have defined.

The prompt asking for this permission will only appear when you enable the Untrusted Network notifications. If you don’t plan to use this feature, you can have the granted earlier permission removed.

Our app has no other need for your location other than to provide the SSID name.

Notifications permission is required for our app to send notifications status alerts such as:

  • You connect to an untrusted or insecure Wi-Fi network.

  • To provide you with Internet traffic updates and data reports.

  • If one of your VPN servers is not working or has been terminated.

  • If you're unable to connect or reconnect to VPN for any reason.
