Starlight™ provides a powerful, flexible, and seamless ecosystem designed to support projects of all sizes. Currently, our product offerings under the Starlight™ include Virtual Machines (a scalable virtual machine hosting solution), Mail Bridge (enables outbound email transport by opening TCP port 25), and Hyperlift (a cloud deployment platform offering hosting and management of containerized applications). We plan to expand our product portfolio further in the future. These terms are in addition to the Universal Terms of Service. As a hosting products platform, these Starlight™ Terms also supplement all relevant terms under Spaceship’s Hosting Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.
Spaceship reserves the right to change these Starlight™ Terms at any time. Changes to these Terms will be reflected on our website and go into effect immediately. Where necessary, as determined in Spaceship’s sole discretion, Spaceship may provide you with notice of a change using a method of our choice, including email and/or notice in your account panel.
Starlight™ subscriptions are hosting products that allow you to either pay-as-you-go meaning that you are able to use the service(s) and pay after use, or pre-pay. Currently, Starlight™ VPS and Starlight™ Mail Bridge support pre-paid subscriptions. When you purchase your first Starlight™ VM, you will be asked to choose which billing model you prefer for it.
Starlight™ pay-as-you-go products plans are priced by configuration and charged by the hour as outlined in the Pricing section below.
You may subscribe to one or more Starlight™ products plans. However, given the nature of pay-as-you-go products, Spaceship reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to place restrictions on your account. This includes but is not limited to limiting the number of products that you may purchase at one time, limiting the number of products and/or configurations you may have at the same time, and/or prohibiting the purchase of new products. Limitations set on accounts may be determined for any reason, including business needs.
Please note that pre-paid Starlight™ services are non-refundable. Should you decide to terminate a Starlight™ service subscription under this billing model, you understand that you will not be eligible for a refund. An exception may apply only for first-time non-trial purchases, as described in our Refund Policy.
All pay-as-you-go subscriptions of Starlight™ products are consolidated as one overall pay-as-you-go subscription of Starlight™ and billed as a total amount in one monthly invoice for the services used in the prior month. Pre-paid Starlight™ VM subscriptions will have renewal dates based on each individual subscription.
You are responsible for paying in full the total amount due each month for services used. You are further responsible for knowing your Billing Date, the Starlight™ pay-as-you-go products you have active and ensuring a payment method is in place to pay for services that you have used. You understand and agree that failure to pay the invoiced amount due (in whole or in part) is considered nonpayment for all Starlight™ pay-as-you-go services. As such, all Starlight™ pay-as-you-go services for your account will change in status from Active to Grace and may result in the cancellation of all Starlight™ pay-as-you-go plans in your account and the closing of your pay-as-you-go account.
Billing Date, for invoicing, is set at the account level when you select pay-as-you-go. This means that you will have one Billing Date for all Starlight™ pay-as-you-go products you have subscribed to.
Your Billing Date will be the day of the month that you first purchased a Starlight™ pay-as-you-go product. For example, if you purchase your first subscription on March 5th, your Billing Date will be the 5th of the month and you will receive your first invoice for services used on April 5th.
All additional purchases of Starlight™ pay-as-you-go products by you in this account will have the same Billing Date. Therefore, if you make an additional purchase of Starlight™ on March 20th, the Billing Date for that additional product will also be on the 5th of the month. The first bill is on April 5th and, as to this particular subscription, will include your usage from March 20th to April 5th.
Starlight™ pay-as-you-go product usage is charged by the hour and varies by subscription product. Subscription product and the related pricing are based on configuration and the time you use the resources.
If you fail to pay the full amount due on your Billing Date, all related Starlight™ pay services will move to Grace status on the next day. Grace status lasts for up to ten (10) days and operates as outlined below.
Day 1-3: If the account is not paid in full, the existing Starlight™ services will remain Active but have limited functionality and you will not be able to purchase new Starlight™ products or resize (upgrade/downgrade resources) for existing products.
Day 4-10: On day 4, Starlight™ account activity is blocked, all the Starlight™ services are suspended and inaccessible. If payment is received during this time, Starlight™ services may be restored. However, you will need to activate all Starlight™ services manually after that. You will not be charged for Starlight™ services that are in suspension status.
Day 10: If the account is still unpaid, all the data related to the Starlight™ products will be destroyed and cannot be reinstated.
In addition, as you will have an outstanding balance due, normal terms apply which includes that your Spaceship account will be locked from further use. You will be prohibited from further purchases of any kind until the balance due is paid and, if paid, you may still be prohibited from the ability to subscribe to Starlight™ products in the future.
Communication During Grace Status. You are solely responsible for timely payment of services used. Should your Starlight™ services move into Grace status, you are solely responsible for tracking the number of days that your payment is delinquent and the related actions. Spaceship may, as a courtesy but not as an obligation, inform you about Starlight™ service changes during Grace status.
Plans + Auto-Renewal. Auto-renewal option can be enabled for all hosting plans at Spaceship. If You signed up for a monthly payment plan, Your monthly billing date will be determined based on the day of the month You purchased the products or Services. As noted, failure to pay for services at renewal may result in immediate suspension of services.
If You signed up for an annual (or longer) payment plan, and You elected the automatic renewal option, Spaceship will automatically renew Your Services when they come up for renewal and will take payment in accordance with the designated payment method at Spaceship's then current rates.
Spaceship reserves the right to suspend services for any reason, in its sole discretion. Where Spaceship believes that the use of Starlight™ services is being used for illegal purposes and/or in violation of any of Spaceships terms or AUPs, we reserve the right to suspend any or all of your Starlight™ services and/or your entire account.
In addition, if Spaceship determines that your use of Starlight™ services is abusing resources, we reserve the right to suspend the abusive Starlight™ product until the issue is resolved. Further, where there is a history of resource abuse, we may suspend all Starlight™ products.
If your Starlight™ services have been suspended, you must contact the Spaceship support team to resolve the issue within seven (7) days from the suspension. While services are suspended, if you choose a pay-as-you-go billing model, you will be billed and responsible for payment for use of services prior to suspension. However, you will not be billed for the related Starlight™ pay-as-you-go services during the suspension period. Nonpayment for services used may result in your account being placed into Grace status and related timeline and restrictions that we apply to unpaid accounts.
If the issue is resolved to Spaceship’s satisfaction, we will mark your Starlight™ services as restored and billing will begin again immediately for Starlight™ Virtual Machines (with pay-as-you-go billing model) and after the instance application(s) are started for Starlight™ Hyperlift. You will then need to manually power on each of your Starlight™ Virtual Machines services and start Starlight™ Hyperlift instance application(s). If the issue is not resolved and/or you fail to contact us within 7 days, we reserve the right to destroy the affected services.
Data Center Location
Starlight™ Virtual Machines are currently hosted in two locations: a U.S.-based data center in Phoenix, Arizona, and an Asia-based data center in Singapore. By using Virtual Machines, you acknowledge and agree that your data may be stored and processed within these locations, subject to Spaceship’s security, privacy, and operational practices.

Starlight™ Mail Bridge (further in this section ‘Service’) is a product available for purchase by users of Starlight™ VPS plans.
How the Service Works. The Service opens outbound TCP port 25. The Service does not provide mailbox hosting, queueing, or a managed mail server. You are responsible for installing and managing your MTA (Mail Transfer Agent), DNS (including SPF/DKIM/DMARC), and security hardening.
Data Center (DC) Location. The Service is available in the same Starlight™ Virtual Machine data centers currently offered. When you purchase the Service for a specific VM, the selected DC defaults to that VM’s DC.
Assignment and Port 25 Behavior. Assignment is not available while a VM is rebooting, rebuilding, powering on/off, or suspended. A VM may have only one Service assigned at a time. Assignment may require processing time; Port 25 opens after assignment completes and closes upon unassignment or suspension.
Security & Anti‑Abuse Scanning. To protect customers and the internet, Spaceship and its providers process SMTP metadata and, because the User → Service is unencrypted, message content transiting the Service to detect and block spam, phishing, malware, forged headers, and similar abuse. We may use automated systems and machine-learning models (including AI services provided by third parties) to perform these anti-abuse and security evaluations. For the Service → Destination Server connection, TLS (when used) is initiated by the Service on the Service → Destination Server connection. We do not queue or store messages beyond the time required for transmission and security scanning. Processing is solely for security/anti‑abuse, not for advertising or profiling, and is performed under our Privacy Policy and DPA. We may block, defer, or reject messages where scanning or reputation controls indicate risk.
False Positive Appeals. If you believe a message was incorrectly classified, contact Support to request a human review and include sufficient diagnostic details. Support will acknowledge your request and provide the next steps. Spaceship does not disclose internal review processes, detection thresholds, or the identity of specific tools or vendors. Reviews are conducted subject to our terms, policies, and applicable law.
Data Subject Rights: You are the Controller and are responsible for any personal data you process through this Service. You acknowledge that we process limited data solely as your data processor. As such, You retain all Controller obligations, including responding to all Data Subject Requests. Any Data Subject Requests directed to us in relation to this Service will be redirected to you.
Deliverability. We do not control recipient systems, third-party blacklists, or public internet infrastructure. Deliverability is not guaranteed, and factors beyond either party's control may affect delivery success.
Your Responsibilities. For messages you transmit, attempt to transmit, or cause to be transmitted via the Service, you are responsible as the sender or initiator and Controller under applicable laws, including:
Obtaining lawful consent from recipients
Providing accurate sender identity and functional reply-to addresses
Implementing and honoring unsubscribe mechanisms
Maintaining accurate DNS records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
Monitoring and responding to bounces and complaints
Complying with anti-spam laws (CAN-SPAM, CASL, etc.)
Complying with applicable privacy regulations (GDPR, etc.)
Complying with all other applicable laws
Reputation & Legal Compliance Actions. As part of your overall responsibility for sender practices and reputation management, you must take swift action to investigate and remediate any suspected or actual legal or policy violations arising from your use of the Service. This includes, without limitation: (a) promptly investigating incidents and ceasing any non-compliant activity; (b) implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence; (c) timely referring to your appropriate personnel and/or advisers any inquiries, complaints, requests, or notices relating to privacy or data protection (including GDPR and other applicable regulations), and responding to such matters without undue delay and within the timeframes required by applicable law; and (d) cooperating with Spaceship, upon reasonable request, to address abuse, security, or reputation risks associated with your use of the Service. Failure to take the foregoing actions may result in throttling, suspension, or termination of the Service in accordance with our terms and policies.
Bounce and Complaint Handling. You must maintain a working Return‑Path and a complaint mailbox capable of receiving bounces and abuse reports. You should also maintain monitored abuse@ and postmaster@ mailboxes for sending domains. Failure to do so may result in throttling or suspension under our terms and policies.
Acceptable Use and Reputation. Your sending must comply with the Spaceship Universal Terms of Service Agreement, including prohibitions on unsolicited bulk or commercial email, header forgery, open relays, malware, and phishing. Where an IP/domain is blacklisted, or complaint/bounce signals exceed acceptable levels, Spaceship may, at its sole discretion, do one or more of the following:
Provide notice and request immediate remediation
Throttle sending rates to prevent further reputation damage
Temporarily suspend the Service pending investigation
Terminate the Service if remediation is not completed within a reasonable timeframe or violations are severe
Remediation Support. Upon request, we may provide available reputation data and reasonably assist with identifying issues. You remain responsible for delisting efforts with third-party blacklist operators.
IPs. IPs are leased resources that remain Spaceship property and may be reclaimed for any reason, including upon cancellation or for network integrity. On a best-effort basis, we check major public email blacklists and reputation sources before assigning an IP, and we will not assign an IP that is blacklisted at that time. After the assignment, it is your responsibility to maintain a positive IP reputation. You must not take actions that harm IP's reputation.
We cannot control third-party listing/delisting processes and do not guarantee that an IP will remain unlisted.
If an IP becomes blacklisted during your subscription due to your sending practices, configuration, or complaint/bounce rates, you are solely responsible for investigation and delisting with the relevant providers. We do not replace or reassign IPs due to reputation or blacklist issues arising from your use.
Cancellation. You may cancel the Service at any time. Cancellation is effective immediately. On cancellation, the Service is removed from your account and from any assigned VM, port 25 is closed. Pre-paid fees are non-refundable, and no further charges will be incurred.
