Spaceship celebrates 5 million domains under management

Just over a year since hitting 1 million domains under management, Spaceship’s domain registrations have now skyrocketed to 5 million. Yet another amazing milestone in just over 2 years of business for the fastest-growing web services company, built for you, by you.

Exploring Spaceship’s domain trends

We have collected data on all the domains registered at Spaceship from launch until now. Digging into these numbers not only sheds light on Spaceship’s customers but also reflects broader domain industry trends and web trends in 2025. Let’s dive in.

Domains transferred to Spaceship vs. new registrations

86% of the 5 million domains managed at Spaceship are brand new registrations, while transfers account for 14%. This reflects Spaceship’s appeal to both new domain owners and domainers wanting to try something different. The top three registrars from which people transferred the most are Sav.com, Dynadot, and GoDaddy.

com vs. all other TLD registrations

Only 17% of registrations are .com, compared to all other TLDs, which represent 83%. When we hit 1 million domains under management, .com accounted for 13% of registrations. While there’s been a slight increase, it still reflects the slowdown of .com registration observed in general domain market trends.

Top 20 TLDs registered

Just like the last time we explored Spaceship’s domain name trends, .shop is at the top of the leaderboard at 17%, this time tied with .com. New popular additions include .my, .skin, and .co.

Top 5 countries registering domains with Spaceship

When it comes to the location of customers who own the most domains, the United States still leads the way. Cambodia has cracked the top 5, coming in second place, now ahead of China. The Philippines is also a new addition to the ranking.

Top 10 gTLDs and ccTLDs registered with Spaceship

For generic top-level domains, .com and .shop dominate proceedings, with .xyz coming in third place. New additions to the top 10 include .info and .run.

As for country code TLDs, while .in topped the list previously, .my is leading the way this time round with 41%. Although it’s the country code for Malaysia, using a .my extension can add a personal touch to a domain name, which may also contribute to its rising popularity.

Fastest-growing TLDs

.com sales continue to grow on Spaceship, as do .shop and .my. The top five fastest growing domains are: com, shop, my, xyz, skin.

Number of domains listed and sold via SellerHub

Although it only launched three months ago, the total number of domain listings on Sellerhub has surpassed 5 million. Many sellers have already found success, with 1,124 domains sold.

Top 10 most expensive sales on SellerHub

A 1-word .com TLD is the leader here at a whopping $2 million. Interestingly, the majority of the list consists of .ai TLDs. Specifically, 6x .ai, 3x .com, 1x .io are the TLDs making up that top 10.

.ai domains registered on Spaceship vs other TLD registrations

A popular choice for artificial intelligence companies, .ai registrations have seen excellent growth. That said, they don’t account for a large percentage of TLDs sold when compared to .com and other gTLDs. While .ai may not be a top contender in terms of volume of TLDs sold, it is proving to be one of the most valuable, as illustrated in the inforgraphic above.
