Starlight™ volumes

Storage that scales with you

Get high-performance block storage that keeps your data portable, persistent, and cost-effective.

Room to grow

Room to grow

Resize cloud block storage on demand, independently of VM CPU or RAM. Handle growth without wasting resources.

Dynamic data

Dynamic data

Move storage between VMs without manual file transfers. Just detach and reattach Volumes as needed without risking data loss.

Stress-free storage

Stress-free storage

View, organize, and control volumes from Starlight™ Manager. No cluster-wrangling. No server management. Just reliable block-level storage.

Flexible block storage, built for your VMs

Extend your VM capacity with reliable cloud block storage. Choose the size you need, attach or detach between PAYG or prepaid VMs, and resize as your workloads grow.

The next step in cloud block storage

Take control of all your payments with PAYG.

Scale as you need

Scale as you need

Scale as you need

Expand or shrink a Volume’s size to accommodate evolving storage requirements. No need to create new volumes or delete existing data as needs change.

Migrate with ease

Frequently asked questions
You can attach up to three Volumes per VM. This allows you to expand storage capacity or separate workloads without upgrading your compute resources.
All Volumes use SSD NVMe storage, delivering high-speed, reliable performance for your applications and databases.
Volumes are optimized for fast reads and writes:
  • Random Read (4kB block): up to 40,000 IOPS
  • Random Write (4kB block): up to 30,000 IOPS
  • Sequential Read (1MB block): up to 4,000 MB/s
  • Sequential Write (1MB block): up to 2,000 MB/s
Volumes are billed separately from your VM. You only pay for the storage you provision. Volumes are available as Prepaid and Pay-as-you-go options with any VM billing model.
No. Volumes are region-specific. For example, a Volume created in the US cannot be attached to a VM in Singapore, and vice versa.
No. Volumes can only be attached to VMs. They are not compatible with Load Balancers.
Yes. Your Volumes are independent of your VM. Even if you cancel the VM, the attached Volumes remain available and can be re-attached to another VM at any time.

Disclaimers

Starlight™ Volumes support both Pay-as-you-go and Prepaid billing options.
